USB Switch

Several USB devices can be connected to multiple computers using a USB switch. A printer, scanner or external hard drive can be shared between computers with the use of a USB switch. If there are lots of peripheral devices but not enough ports on a switch, you can connect a USB hub to one of the switch ports to create further connections for your devices.

The USB hub will allow several USB devices to be connected to just one USB port on your computer. these hibs are usually built into equipment, such as keyboard, printers, or monitors. USB hubs can also be purchased separately however, in a variety of different forms. Some small USB hubs are designed to be plugged into the USB port directly, without the use of a connecting cable.

USB switches can carry the same speeds of data transfer as USB cables: a maximum of 480 Mbit per second. You can choose from a wide range of USB switches which support the USB 2.0 standard. LINDY offer both 2 and 4 port USB switches and some are multi-platform compatible, supporting PC’s, Macs and Sun O/A.
