LINDY USB 3.0 Disk Enclosure Adds Blu-Ray Capabilities with Ease

We announced today a USB 3.0 enclosure that enables users to easily connect a Blu-Ray, DVD or CD drive to a computer’s SuperSpeed port. The enclosure can be used with 5.25" SATA drives, enabling users to transfer data to their PC or laptop at speeds of up to 5Gbps via the USB 3.0 port.

Finished in a brushed aluminium case that provides excellent heat dissipation, the LINDY USB 3.0 Enclosure for BD/DVD/CD Drives includes an IDE converter and comes complete with a USB 3.0 Type A to Type B cable and a separate power supply. When not in use the enclosure can be easily switched off at the back of the unit.

Enclosures are one of the easiest ways to make use of old drives without having to crack open the case of your computer. They are particularly useful with netbooks and laptops where even just changing a drive presents a difficult challenge to all but the most experienced users.

The LINDY USB 3.0 Enclosure for BD/DVD/CD Drives is compatible with Windows 2000/XP/Vista/7 and Linux 2.6.31 and above. Measuring 170 x 270 x 53mm (WxDxH), the compact drive enclosure is the simplest way to add an optical Blu-Ray, DVD or CD drive to a computer.
